A new kind of body armour to protect police dogs from attack will soon go on trial.
The lightweight jackets - which cost £350 per animal - are set to be tested by South Yorkshire Police.
Dogs with the force's firearms support unit will wear the protective kit, which is designed to protect a dog's neck and shoulders.
PC Rick Harrison used recycled police uniforms to test and develop different styles of jacket over a period of two years, before deciding on an armour made from woven metal mesh.
